Rytidosperma caespitosum var. Evans or Tall Wallaby Grass was selectively bred by Native Seeds. This is a large tuffted grass growing up to 80cm with seed heads that may reach 1 meter. With high frost, heat and drought tolerance this grass is ideal for dry matter production under environmentally stressful conditions.

Evans wallaby grass seed is sold in pelletised form. 'Pelletised' seed has been coated in clay to improve sowing. The pellets are fungicide, pesticide and fertiliser free. For more information on seed form please see our blog post



Wallaby grass – Rytidosperma caespitosum var. Evans

Wallaby grasses (Rytidosperma spp.) are erect tufted perennials with fine leaves. Previously called Austrodanthonia spp. this grass is variable in form between species and in response to changes in environment. Evans wallaby grass typically grows to a height of 80 cm and remain green throughout the year. The seedheads vary considerably, but commonly have attractive white fluffy tops when mature.
