Acacia dealbata, Silver Wattle
A smooth trunked wattle from 6-30m tall x 5-10m wide found in NSW, Victoria and Tasmania. It flowers from July to October with pale to bright yellow flowerheads. This is an adaptable ornamental species which prefers moist soils. It grows in dappled shade, partial or full sun. An ideal species for farms or parks as it grows quickly and provides windbreaks. Propagate from seed.

Acacia fimbriata, Fringe Wattle
A small bushy tree 5-8m x 3-5m flowering from July to October. Adaptable to a wide variety of situations. Prefers good drainage and grows in full sun or semi-shade. Good for highway planting especially on shallow or stony soils. Propagate from seed.

Acacia longifolia, Golden rods, Sallow Wattle
A small tree to 8m flowering from July to Oct with yellow spikes. Found along coastal regions in NSW eastern Victoria, Tasmania and SA.

Acacia melanoxylon, Blackwood
A large shrub to tall tree 5-30m x 4-15m widely distributed in eastern Australia. It is a highly regarded timber species in southern Australia, but is short lived in Queensland. It grows best in moist, well drained soils with cool climates. As a smaller tree, this species grows on a wide range of soils including sandy loams and red clay loams. Frost tolerant. Propagate from seed.

Brachychiton populneus, Kurrajong
An attractive well shaped spreading tree with a stout trunk and grey bark, 6-20m x 0.5-1m found in Qld, NSW, Vic, Tas and SA. The crown is dense with bright green leaves. Juvenile leaves are variously shaped, adult leaves are poplar shaped. Bell shaped flowers from 1-2cm long are cream or pink, flecked with red on the inside. Some trees are semi-deciduous early in summer. An excellent shelter or shade tree for homesteads, parks, gardens or street trees. Leaves can be used for stock fodder during drought.

Casuarina cunninghamiana, River Sheoak
A medium sized to tall erect spreading tree which occurs along water courses or banks just above the water level growing to 10-30m x 10-12m in NT, Qld and NSW. An excellent shade or shelter tree for dry areas. Very fast growing and frequently planted to control soil erosion. The tree is used for ornamental planting for shade and shelter and can grow on comparatively dry soils. The foliage of seedlings can be used for drought fodder. Propagate from seed.

Eucalyptus blakelyi, Blakely’s Red Gum
A medium sized tree from 10-20m x 10-15m with a short stout trunk and a widely spreading crown. It is moderately dense often with drooping branches. It occurs on inland slopes in Qld, NSW and Victoria on fairly heavy, but moist clays and loams. An important tree for honey production and for nectar eating birds. It is hardy, tolerant of frost, adaptable for many soil types and is ideal for windbreaks, woodlots or for shade for stock.

Eucalyptus pauciflora, Snow gum, Cabbage gum, White Sallee
NSW, Vic, Tas. Small to medium-sized spreading woodland tree with smooth grey-white or creamy bark and shiny blue to blue-green leaves. White flowers Oct-Jan. An adaptable species tolerant of most acidic to neutral soils. Tolerates low temperatures down to -12°C.
