Weeping Grass seed, Microlaena stipoides Weeping grass, Microlaena stipoides, is a cool season perennial grass. It is also known as Weeping rice grass, Meadow rice grass or Rice grass. It stays green all year. The grass is fine and soft and produces weeping seedheads from December to May. It has high drought tolerance, high frost tolerance and is shade tolerant. Weeping grass will grow in strongly acidic soils. This is an extremely versatile grass and is suited to a range of uses: domestic lawns, turf for roadsides, municipal parks or gardens requiring little maintenance, watering or mowing, pasture and revegetation in conjunction with other native grasses.
